What non-district depots can the Ds easily reach? Is there not space at Ruislip or Neasden/Wembley for example?

I'd have thought Northfields depot would be a contender for somewhere to stable a D stock. IIRC surface stocks are cleared at least that far for the specific reason of reaching the depot.

Could you stack them on the "Slow" lines between Northfields and Acton Town. The Up line is used as a test track, what about the Down?

Is the D Stock unit still at Amersham? I saw it on trackernet on Saturday but today it's disappeared.

There was one stored at Neasden right at the back with a A stock but this was a few months ago now. When they show Neasden full of trains when the news reports on the strike it can be seen but don't know how old that film is.

The D remains at Amersham and, as I said initially, will be until further notice - but I won't say any more than that on an open forum.

What makes no sense to me is why they are simply not getting rid of them, either to Viva Rail or scrap.

I assume it's down to the current overtime ban within LU depots ; as far as the District goes (my line) about 8 to 10 trains are currently cancelled every day for the a.m / p.m. peak services ex-depot due to no prep time. The splitting up and disposal of redundant stock would be much lower down the list of priorities right now. Their replacement S stock has already been delivered,so we have the over-stock situation until things return to normal.

Mod comment: Following further discussion amongst the forum staff, we have removed the earlier post by elmparksteve regarding the graffiti on D stock and other trains. Whilst I initially only removed the location, we feel that the referral to the incident in the public domain can act as a "trophy" to those responsible.

Two units AIUI, both for conversion into the new RAT. I think there are 6 units / 3 trains in there at the moment. One of which is the RAT and two are stored off the District line to make space in the depots.

It's possible that another two units have been moved, but the only outstanding we've heard about is the train at Amersham and the train at Dagenham East. I'll try and find out for certain. :-)

Thanks for the update. Does this mean some other D stock have now been disposed of to make space?

No; it wasn't a lack of space per se, it was a lack of space to store unserviceable trains. With the lifting of the overtime ban the various defects can be addressed and trains gotten back into service, allowing (hopefully) for a reduction in cancellations.

6 x D stock are going to be removed from LU via the Museum link between now and early October. This will almost certainly include the two that were at Amersham / Dagenham. This will make space in the depots for S stock rollout to resume.

You mean the one still at Dagenham East. Don't see that one ever going back in service

That was very unusual that is possibly the longest distance a D stock has been to Amersham.
