Hello all, this is a bit of a long shot, but I wonder if any member can throw any light on when the Underground entrance at Euston (suburban by platforms 8-11) was opened? For some years I have been gathering information about the Euston 1962-1970 re-building, and am particularly interested in the arrangements to access the Northern line during that period. Currently I suspect that the entrance in question was the only one available for at least 6-9 months. This is because the original (arrivals side) Northern line concourse entrance closed in October 1967, and the new concourse entrance we use today probably didn't open until at least mid 1968 (actual date uncertain). There was also a temporary entrance/exit to the Northern line which emerged by the temporary main line booking facilities close to Melton Street. Details and pictures of this access are also very patchy. I have been in touch with both the LT Museum and Network Rail, but as yet no information has been forthcoming. Given that the former Northern line entrance which closed in 1967 was in the area of platforms 3-4 buffer stops of todays Euston, it must've caused restrictive access to those main line platforms before it was eventually filled in and levelled over. No information or photos of this have come to light either. Any useful details or memoirs from 'senior' members (or younger ones that may know something) would be greatly appreciated. Regards, Colin.
