Just heard on the radio that some drivers have been "sent home without pay" for not driving trains having not had time to complete their safety checks. I heard it was affecting the district, hence it being on this board.
I remember hearing chatter about drivers bring unhappy with the time allowed to do checks before entering service, so is that what's gone on here.
Ps, hopefully this is allowable inside forum rules!

It's not quite as you heard. The current Night Tube dispute has entered another level today with ASLEF extending it's dispute with Management to include enforcement of the agreement that trains cannot be bought into passenger service unless they have been prepared by a qualified Train Technician in the previous 23hrs. The current RMT overtime ban on SSR has effected their ability to prepare trains to the required standard within the time allowed.

This is shaping up to be the biggest, nastiest strike in 24 years. With Boris's union busting Mr Griffiths in charge, its turning into a battle of wills - with the public caught in the middle!

I've just been informed that the ASLEF action regards train preparation has been suspended, all drivers sent home today will be paid.

Good to hear. It sounds as if BBC London will be running a report on it at some point between 1830 & 1900

Glad to hear that 7080
How ridiculous, sending people home with no pay for refusing to drive a train that theyre ultimately responsible for if not happy that it had been prepped properly.

There were quite a few cancellations in the morning peak today.

Indeed - several were taken out of service at Upminster by the Depot Duty Manager due to being overdue on their 28 day exams as well as those refused by my colleagues this morning.
Whilst we all know that D stock maintenance is going downhill due to their impending withdrawal, the RMT overtime ban is highlighting a particurly worrying situation. Not only is there less effort being put into actual maintanence, they haven't even got enough people to the basics like 28 day exams and 24 hour train preps.
I gather S stock train preps take longer than D's, but the S stock training for depot staff has also been left to the last possible moment so overtime ban plus three off for training equals absolute mess.
