It's also worth noting that using Oyster on HS1 does not count towards daily capping, and nor is it covered by travelcards loaded onto Oyster products. There's a few other restrictions/caveats too.
In reality it's just another "way to pay" to save queuing up at the Southeastern ticket machines. I can see an awful lot of people being caught out owing to the way that SE have described it.
I'll try and remember tomorrow to dig out the latest Ticketing & Revenue Update which gives a little more info than the rather selective SE press release!
