bachmann.co.uk/details.php?id=359Too modern for me but nice to see a big investment in modern underground stock. However, the drive unit augurs well for the future with possible applications on other stock?

Looks very nice. I am assuming that it is modelled on S8, and will have S8 interior going by the affixed numbers and destination. The illuminated destinations are impressive though

Pleasantly surprised. They have neglected modern image trains for a long time now. I've also just seen the SWT 450 is available for pre order, the livery of which is slightly unimpressive.

Pre-order gone in for two four-car units, with plans to add the additional cars at a later date... ...now I need to get on and actually finish the layout, what with having a couple of Met electrics on order and various Tube stocks being modified to my requirements... As for a pre-order link, the various options can be found at www.ltmuseumshop.co.uk/models/s-stock.html, as well as all the required information.

Now that's a pleasant surprise. I would have prefered some other kind of stock though. This does however mean that it's not impossible to see other stock in the future.
However, i can't help but wonder what this will mean for Metromodels.

I wonder if anyone will repaint theirs? Train red? Metropolitan Railway brown (for varnished teak)?

Oh, lordy, that's tempting.
A pity they don't offer an unmotorised set for those who don't have or want a layout, but would like a static model.

Remember you need to get the add-on pack for it to successfully run DOO in TS15.

Shame they didn't make a 'proper' train! Won't see any of that muck on my layout!! These trains are fine... smooth, ride well (bit like articulated trams), good window visibility (vastly better than Electrostar / Turbostar trains) however as I don't want to breach any profanity rules I won't comment on the seating layout or the people who chose it. But its not the fault of the train builder that they had to make them how the people paying them wanted - rather than to meet the wishes of the human sardines who travel in the tin cans! If ever I find the time to get my model railway back up and running I'll definitely want one of these. Right now I'm too busy creating YouTube films and updating the website. Simon

Shame that Bachmann are only supplying via the L T museum as you can normally get discounts from other suppliers. I think the prices are a bit exorbitant.

Well seeing as the LT Museum have commissioned it it's not at all surprising that it's only available through them. The price is reasonable for what is being offered.

There is also a commissioned NER Atlantic that has been released at £180 and one should expect to pay something in the region of £100 to £200 for a 00 scale R-T-R steam locomotive so £280 for a four car unit that does not have many livery variations to cover costs is quite reasonable.

I assume that if you collect the items from Acton open day that the Aprox: £10 per item postage will not apply.-- this is not clear.

Looking like I'll now be out and about on the trip after a last minute change of plan. Still to be confirmed - I might end up doing some overtime at work!
