Hello,
'Tis my first post here... I was wondering about the vehicles on the move events. In the last couple of years there seem to have been quite a number of them, and I have enjoyed them a lot. But, I haven't heard about any this year. Anyone think there any likely to be planned for the summer?

Hi there.
I am not a railway employee and do not have definitive information, but from what I've heard the 1938 tube stock train is currently undergoing heavy maintenance and will be out of use for quite a while.
Whether there will be any steam train events remains to be seen. The same applies to events involving Sarah Siddons.

The 1938 stock is currently in bits in Acton REW undergoing a heritage overhaul.
Steam trips (With Sarah Siddons et al) are in the planning for Watford-Chesham and Ealing Broadway-High Street Kensington, however at the moment details are still sketchy and nothing is confirmed.
There are no plans to use the A stock as far as I am aware; nonetheless this is not technically preserved so that's not too surprising.
No doubt specifics will be posted up here when they are known.

Ealing Broadway - High Street Kensington is especially exciting, as its central London and a 'first'.
It would also be great if any of the preserved Q / R / COP etc stock were also on display in a station platform somewhere (perhaps at HSK, if the Olympia service is not operating) and available for visitors to see.
I might go to the other event too, although the lack of affordably priced ODTC is an issue. I am one of the (apparently few) who used to buy 2-6 and 2-9 ODTC's and because of the significant price hike reduced my travelling when these were withdrawn.

The general consensus is that the 1938 stock is unlikely to be seen until at least October, probably longer. I would advise signing up to the museum e-newsletter: www.ltmuseum.co.uk/contact-us/newsletter, as it may well be that if/when tickets do go on sale, there is a pre-sale for Friends and newsletter subscribers. One of the reason the Charring Cross and Clapham South is most were snapped up by Friends and newsletter subscribers.

Hi, Thanks for the info! I've heard the 1938 tube stock train is currently undergoing heavy maintenance and will be out of use for quite a while. I thought that it might be having some work done, I don't remember seeing it at Acton when I went a couple of weeks ago. Ealing Broadway - High Street Kensington is especially exciting, as its central London and a 'first'. That would be fun! I will keep my eyes open in the museum newsletter and see what comes up... I look forward to the charing cross tour Dan
