Does anyone know why the Night Tube will not be running on the West Ruislip branch?

Lack of demand? Ealing Briadway will generate far more demand. Depending on the success (or otherwise) of the introduction of the night tube, expansion to services may occur.

I'm not sure there is a lack of demand. Unlike Ealing Broadway, the Ruislip branch generally passes through more residential areas, the population of which would be the logical users of the service.
It's interesting to note that Ealing will now have both a number of night buses and night tube, whereas beyond Northolt there is nothing once the day bus routes end.

I can only give you a couple of examples from our holiday based in Uxbridge in September 2013, when we came back late from Central London shows & films. We left the shows around 22:30-22:45 & both times got back to Uxbridge around midnight. Both times we had to change at Rayners Lane, so I can positively tell you there were no more than half-a-dozen other passengers left on it. Our Travelodge was only 100 yards from the Tube and next door to the all-night bus garage. I didn't carry out a census, but the buses seemed to be doing a better trade at what I consider unearthly hours than the late Tube, apart from sounding like a demented seagull when they reversed . Quite where all the late-night rave-ups were based, I never did find out, but I think the buses might just have it sewn up vide Ruislip & Uxbridge. That might be why West Ruislip is missing out, even though it's a different line from Uxbridge & Ruislip/Ruislip Manor.

Buses 114 & 183 are proposed to offer a night service on Friday and Saturday nights, linking Queensbury/Kingsbury with Harrow-on-the-Hill, Ruislip, Ruislip Manor, South Ruislip every 30mins. Bus E1 is proposed to offer a night service on Friday and Saturday nights, linking Ealing Broadway to Greenford Broadway, every 30mins. Bus 222 is proposed to offer a 24hr daily service from Hounslow (via West station) to Uxbridge.

Ealing Broadway is also a more likely place to get a cab.

I lived in Ruislip 2011 - 2013, lack of night time bus service was frustrating on occasion (particularly that one occasion when I missed the last train N207 from Holborn area + taxi from Uxbridge -> Ruislip isn't the easiest trip to do in the early hours of a Monday). That said, having taken the (or close to) last train back many times too, they certainly weren't busy by the time they arrived at West Ruislip. In fact, I recall a good number of times being the only person exiting the train. So if the West Ruislip branch were to have a night service, it wouldn't seem sensible to take it up that far - perhaps Northolt?

Surely though, just because the last trains (that would be leaving central around 00:00-01:00?) aren't full, doesn't mean there won't be people out partying in the wee hours who want to get home in the 3 o'clock hour (and later!)... so you can't just assume it wouldn't be used.

But by how many people? There is very little point in running trains for just a taxi or bus load of passengers. The intention is to reduce the service on night bus routes parallel to the night tube and plough the money back into connecting bus routes which will provide suburban connections.

So, none of the bus options seem to solve getting to Ickenham / Hillingdon (which is at least walkable from West Ruislip) after a night out...
