The Museum are holding a tour of Charing Cross station in mid-June and of Clapham South Shelter in early October. General Public bookings open on Friday, though recipients of the museum's newsletter have a 48hour priority booking window.

Have you tried to book. When I tried it shows that the charing cross tour is sold out but you can join a waiting list. The Clapham south just says sold out.

Bookings open 48hours before public ones, public ones open on Friday; I looked and it said sold out for both, but I assume that's because Friday isn't 48hours away yet!

Assuming you have the early-bird password from the newsletter email, change the date in the drop-down menu above where it says "sold out", and you can book for different dates/times, which are not sold out.

£25 seems very steep to see disused part of Charing Cross.

Not at all surprised these are sold out for the pre-release window. Friday morning will be the first big test of the museum phone lines since they were reconnected and the museum re-opened after the fire in Kingsway me thinks.

Now booked for both tours. Wonder will there be an Aldwych station tour anytime soon?

It would appear that once on general release all tickets sold out within about an hour or so.

A lot of days and times for these tours, and yet they sold out so quickly. I'm sure there was never that quick of a sell-out with any of the Aldwych tours.
Where did the sudden boom of interest come from?

Had an absolutely wonderful tour of Clapham South with HWMBO this evening. I'll post a few pics later, though I must admit to being too enthralled to looking rather than taking photies.

I went down to Clapham South today as well. Fantastic tour, was great to see the place in the flesh and our guide was great, really informative. I didn't realise just how big it was down there! The 180 steps to get back up were a killer though! My photos here: www.flickr.com/photos/littleredtrain/albums/72157659276074409

The 180 steps to get back up were a killer though! HWMBO, being an athletic type, decided to run (or possibly speed-mince) up the entire flight. His prize for being first was to buy me a gin.

You'll have to get him to try the 155 steps up from Russell Square platforms to ticket hall. Clever clogs here decided in 2012 that as the lift queue was so long, we'd walk up them. I needed four stopping breaks, Mrs tbf a mere couple, and I caused great consternation to a very nice Japanese tourist who checked if I was OK. Doubt they'd be as hard as Clapham South on paper, but then when did any of us last use paper stairs? Glad you enjoyed CS-I did it years ago accompanying someone on historical research.
