Found another old Photo. So much interesting stuff here, most of it old steam engines, but anyway, this one is quite interesting.
Undated, but shows railway workshops, theres a mixture of Standard stock cars, surrounded by a multitude of equipment, workmen and R stock, tho some cars could be Q38. I *think* one of the cars is numbered [strains to see, even with magnifying glass] 11477.
I think the best thing in the photo is the fact that there is a collection of coats hanging up in the workshop rafters! I guess this must of been to stop the early knock offs.
I am drawn to the conclusion that the photo may be a copy, because the paper quality seems too good for its age.
Still interesting tho...

Sounds like Acton Works to me.

I was thinking that too Q8; thats where much of the heavy overhauling was done until recently, iirc.

Yes. When I visited Acton Works the coats and other stuff were hung up aloft. I was given a reason for this and I think it was something to do with convenience and safety and to prevent theft as their had been incidents of that as well.
