Yesterday early evening I was at Pimlico, every 1-2 minutes from entering the ticket hall to boarding a Walthamstow train there were service messages.
There were problems on the Jubilee line (officially just Wembley Park to Willesden Green iirc), on the Met in the city and part of on another line, possibly the District. What was interesting was that the latter two messages were accompanied by messages I'd not heard before. I can't remember them verbatim but they were something like: "Additional details will [should?] be broadcast locally" and "More information will [should?] be available near this area".
The announcements were either automatic or recorded by a member of station staff with voice actor-quality diction. They didn't sound strung together like some automated announcements do either.
Is this a new thing being trialled here? It's only the second time I've used Pimlico station this year, and on the first occasion there was a good service on all lines.

I'm sure when we had the older DVA (digital voice announcer) on the JLE..... which was about 2-3 years ago, we had something similar to what you heard Chris. Something along the lines of 'listen for further announcements as you approach your destination'. Naturally you'd only use this for a section with operating problems, and thus delays.
