There has been what appears to be a rail grinder sitting outside the sheds at ealing common for a few days now. It is different to the one I have seen being moved about into the sidings at acton town.
Does anyone know the reason it is there? I would believe its there for the museum open weekend, but why have it taking up space in the depot 2 weeks before the event?

You'll be amazed at the number of engineering trains on the network every night (assuming they don't break down ). I'm not sure if it's allowed on this forum to link this website, however there is a publicly accessible website which lists the trains that will run each night

I know how many run, we even get a couple stabled every so often in the sidings at work. The only odd thing with this was the fact it was sat in the same place over a few days, in the middle of ealing common. It could have been left somewhere it would not get in the way.

Might be the one that has recently been stabled in the Museum Depot at Acton (in the road normally used by the 38TS?) It was shifted out for the Open Weekend and the space used for sales stalls etc instead.

The one that was in the museum was taken away by road in February.

How was it in the way, did it give you more work to do ?

I do not work at Ealing Common, it just seems odd to leave it where they did.

I think it was stabled on 17 Ealing which is normally used for stabling 3 car unit when reforming D stock formations. If it was stabled anywhere else it would impact with stabling of District trains also it is easy to exit and restable after grinding rails.

I only saw it from a far distance so can't be too sure, but I know for sure it was not the one pictured that I saw the first time.
