I've been going through me Grandads photographic collection and have come across one unidentifiable photograph, taken on the system.
I will try and describe the outward appearance of the stock, and location if need be.
First photo. Stock has small oval shaped cab windows, three sets of double doors per car, looks like the unit is 8 cars in length. The photo does not show the location, but is dated Aug 1950, and just London Transport train. theres no clue to the livery. The Destination plate reads simply High Street [in reference to High St Kensington] Looks like the 'headcode' is by oil lamps, theres two at each lower cab corner and one on the non drivers side - theres a circular flap which is partly over this window
I have searched my collection of books, but cannot find anything which looks vaguely like the one in the photo.
Any clues as to which stock this could be?

That sounds like an F stock. Pics of it are on the LT museum website photo archive, here LT museum photo archiveSearch for 'F stock' and you should see some pics that match!

Ah, that certainly looks exactly like the stock in the photo. Thanks Solidbond.
Looking at the photo closely, looks like the Motormen had to stoop down to see through the window - it looks really small. Wonder what they were like to drive???
Also, just found another photo. Stock, has 'flares' could well be R stock. Photo is captioned Gunnersb'y, 1978. Shows the destination plate as District and Barking, both of which upsidedown!!! Car number is, or looks like 21141.
