Has anyone seen any clever little tricks to save time and effort?one of the best I saw was after we got T.O.M.A.S (Train Operations & Maintenance System)up and running in the mid 80's at Hainault Depot. The DOA(Depot Office Assistant)on our shift couldn't be bothered to wait for the trains to stable to send the TAS(Trains available for service)sheet to the Yardmaster,so what he did was as soon as he got the train numbers of the stock that stabled after the evening peak at Loughton Sdgs he would transfer them electronically to Hainault and use them to fill in any gaps he had in the service. If he was still short he was even known to use the computer to arrive the trains at Hainault use them to make up the service and then send them back into service. He'd then transfer the Loughton trains back, print out the TAS sheet and send it to the Yardmaster. He did this for at least 3 years to my knowledge, and nobody ever queried why they were getting service sheets before midnight when the last train wasn't till 01:00.
