Hi
I ""thought"" that all London Underground stock was over time going to be refurbished so that the Barman design Moquette would be standard throughout the fleet. However the S7 & S8 stock have a different Moquette, why?
Thanks
Alex

The Barman Moquette was unveiled on 9 July 2010 and I remember that by then the S8 Stock was in the final days of testing and training before its introduction on 31 July 2010. So I figured out that the moquette had been settled before the Barman Moquette was unveiled as the moquette contest winner and it was too late to change it.

The S7/S8 design fearures the line colours for services they cover.
Obviously designed and ordered a long time ago.

S stock was ordered in 2003, design started in 2005, and the interior design including moquette was signed off even before Metronet went into administration (about 2007 from memory). Once something like that is signed off and orders place, there is cost of changing which would be a waste of public money. Even though the standard moquette was known about before it was unveiled, it was still too late.
