They are closing the entrance to enable them to rebuild that end to create a ticket hall and new entrance. There is a thread already on this forum about the plans, but I'm in my phone and cannot link to it EDIT It's in the Station related matters and recruitment part of the forum

TfL have just confirmed that they are only gating the Seven Sisters Road and Station Place (LU) entrances. The entrance on Station Place to the right of the NR Ticket Office will remain UNGATED! That means if you want to avoid the ticket gates you just trot up a few steps onto the Mezzanine and down the spiral stairs to the tube platforms - I can't see TfL deploying RPIs there all day everyday! The analogy is building the Berlin Wall complete with minefields and watchtowers and then leaving an open unguarded 500m gap and wondering why everyone uses it!!

In a further response from TfL they say they can't gate the NR entrance at Station Place because they can't get a reply from Network Rail! Obviously no one at NR or GoVia (the TOC) is interested in Revenue Protection!

Obviously no one at NR or GoVia (the TOC) is interested in Revenue Protection! I don't find that a credible statement. I don't doubt you've received a reply saying that [1] but I find it ludicrous that no one in LU / TfL can find the right opposite number in Govia and Network Rail. There MUST be a NR liaison rep for the wider works at Finsbury Park because the Tube station is under Network Rail's viaduct and tracks. Whoever wrote that reply in the Customer Services Centre clearly didn't realise the wider meaning of what they've said. [1] I've had my share of stupid replies from TfL in the past (usually about bus related matters).

There was a TfL tweet earlier today to say that the work has been postponed UFN and that the Wells Terrace entrance will remain in use pro tem.

Yes work postponed UFN. Ticket gates are in place at both Seven Sisters and Station Place (LU) entrances. They have been wired up ready and tested and are covered over. Not sure why the postponement as construction of the new entrance necessitates the demolition of the Wells Terrace passageway. Still no joy from either TfL or NR as to why the NR entrance at Station Place remains ungated. As I said in earlier postings - makes no sense if your gating the other two entrances to leave this one open for everyone to use for free access to the tube platforms!!

yeah its very odd to see postponement - prob because crowding issues and other issues related with it - i think TFL shouldn't done this in first place - its should consulted first

It's been postponed because the associated development scheme (by a third party) has been put on hold.

well TFL didn't need wait for them - they could put lifts in and connect to existing tunnel for now

I suspect that they may be awaiting the outcome of the General Election.

I don't think the developer is paying for the lifts or reopening the old corridor. A TfL approval paper was published a few months back that set out tens of millions of TfL money for the accessibility works. The developer is being given land at Wells Terrace and will construct the new Western ticket hall - I think that's the total scope of their contribution

Has anyone heard any more about this? Its been very quiet since the end of April. Not a sausage. With the benefit of hindsight I'm wondering if the developer got "cold feet" in the run up to the General Election given the housing market cooled somewhat. There may also be issues given the prospect of the Mayoral Election and demands for changes in the London housing market.
