This may well have surfaced before, but I was wondering what good pubs people know of (ideally on the tube network) where you can sit back with a pint and watch some trains trundle past.
Here in Putney we have The Boathouse which overlooks District trains crossing Putney Bridge and, if you're that way inclined, you can also get some good views of aircraft approaching Heathrow.
Would be keen to learn of any more!

Kew Gardens - although the stock variety is not large.
Apparently there has even been a forum meet, there.

There are several on the LT&S out of Fenchurch Street, around Leigh-on-Sea in particular. There used to be a few around Barking/Dagenham Dock but many have now closed.

I can think of plenty next to stations in the London area (Barking and Sutton) but not ones where you can see trains.

Also a previous forum meet was the City Barge, not too far away (from Kew Gardens) with a good view of the District (and LO) trundling over the Thames.

That was the first ever forum meet. It's good to realised that most of us in those photos are still around the forum (or in Dave's case, would be)

Good to see that the hairstyle of some members hasn't changed, though who would have thought what that young chap driving the tram would go on to become....

Hah. I remember that first meet well. I seem to recall the driver of the (district) train home recognized Dave on the platform and announced us as the "District Dave Mystery Tour" or something similar. I have some video of that meet somewhere and a load of photos. Good times.

As the photos show, the Thames also broke its banks. I can remember the landlord bolting the water tight metal door facing the river tightly shut. Happy memories that seem like they were yesterday.... Antharro - I'd love to see your video
