I was on the District line on Sunday and it said on the map the Cannon Street is closed on Sundays and when I was going to Tower Hill, we went through Cannon Street and it wasn't closed.
When is Cannon street closed?

As from the new timetable 14 December 2014, Cannon Street is now open throughout the traffic day, 7-days a week. It was mentioned, in relation to the new Tube Map issued in early December: link

Presumably not stopping at CS at the weekend doesn't save that much time given the need to run through the station so slowly and the low numbers of passengers at those times.
I'd be very interested to know how much traffic will pass through at the weekends.

I would think the station must be used a lot by city commuters for TFL to open Cannon street all week.

It could be quite a large volume - these changes coincide with all main line rail Charing Cross services ceasing to stop at London Bridge so that the first set of through platforms can be demolished and rebuilt as part of the station upgrade. On some weekends Charing Cross loses its services on one or more days, so having Cannon Street open means better access to central London that otherwise would have been possible.

Dan

On some weekends Charing Cross loses its services on one or more days, Charing Cross and Waterloo East are closed every Sunday in the current timetable (Dec to May) except yesterday, 15 and 22 March, and 26 April. I don't think closing Cannon Street Tube on Sundays saved much time, but given the low passnenger usage (and until recently the absence of any trains "upstairs") the cost of staffing it would not have justified j=keeping it open. Bank, Monument and Mansion House are all less than 200 yards away.

The station also now has an Argos collection point in the ticket hall but no ticket office.

What was the reason for only doing step free access for one of the platforms?
