I'm not sure there is a date and a recent discussion here suggested they will be with us a while longer! From the sound of some of the S stock I was on last weekend the mods have not be successful or are incomplete!

Without going off topic too much, where did they get the extra car?

Without going off topic too much, where did they get the extra car? From another S7 that hasn't been delivered yet.

Yes it does mess up the numbers.

But as it's only temporary I guess it's no biggie. That's why they're S7+1 instead of S8(L).

When I asked if it would muck up the car numbers, I meant from when the car is reformed with the rest of its train. I guess the car will be returned it its proper location?

That what I thought but 2 of the S7-1s have got another car in them to make them S7s, have a look at the delivery list for more information.

what was the purpose of forming 4! S7-1 trains "for testing". I thought trains could only be formed S8, S8-1, S7 & S7+1.

I think that what he means is that the trains which have had their centre cars borrowed for use in the S7+1s (becoming S7-1s) have themselves gained a car from a later unit (specifically units 513/14 and 515/16) so that they can be run as S7s, although they currently aren't in service, and probably won't come into service until the after the S7+1s have been reverted. They are one of the low numbered oddballs, including set 345/46, which is still at the test track. I am assuming that it will make it's way down to LU before too long, especially now that it isn't being used for trials of cityflo, or will it remain at Old Dalby for trialling whatever system goes onto the SSL (please not seltrac!)

The +1 cars came from another S7 therefore there were 3 (now 1) S7-1s but the S7-1s just sat about doing nothing.

It is not unknown for cars to be renumbered to match the unit they now find themselves in: it's much easier than shunting the vehicles themselves around.

I think that happened with 2 S8 cars but may be wrong.

Yes, as I understand LU bought the test track.

From what I've heard the two S7-1 units to receive additional cars from other S7s are being informally called S7-1+1s in expectation that everything will be returned to its rightful place in due course...
And let's not forget the maintenance cycles that will be affected by the three S7+1s and the associated shuffling either!

S7-1+1? That's different lol, so the car out of order will be put back in order then, or will they be re-numbered?
