Good news for us on the Uxbridge branch, all off-peak trains now go through to Aldgate. Only the 4tph Watford service terminates at Baker Street. And we've got our own set of train numbers back!

I was wondering if any extra trains would be required to operate on the uxbridge service if all 8 trains per hour are running into the city? Previously Watford and uxbridge - Baker Street services alternated trains. Watford-baker and uxbridge-Aldgate are now self contained I think.

Not sure this is such good news. Any problems in the City seem to result in Aldgate trains being returned to the depot with only Baker Street trains continuing to run as that's simpler than restructuring the whole timetable. Under the previous timetable we therefore still had some Uxbridge trains if the City service was withdrawn, whereas under the new one we will have none.

one thing i certainly find odd is that despite the a stock being gone 2.5 years ago nearly, when on the uxbridge branch, its very amusing that the old 73 stock has a far superior acceleration rate to the new s stock, i overheard somebody at eastcote say "i dont know why those brand new trains take an age to reach a decent speed!"

I believe that they are still running around in a reduced performance mode, which will be removed at some point. This may be when the D stock are removed and all of the SSL is S stock only, which would require a timetable re-write - or more likely when the SSL gets resignalled which requires a timetable rewrite anyway.

very reduced performance i must say, however, how much is the d stock really restricting this? Its acceleration is hardly what i would call sluggish and the s7 stocks on the circle and h & c seem to run with a far superior acceleration rate to the s8 stock on the met.

There is no reason why they can't be speeded up on the Met main as far as I can see. It's bad enough that there are no fast off peak trains - don't rub it in by dawdling along. And even with this slow service, there is still waiting time at Harrow and Baker Street. Zzzzzzzzzzz!

I thought they'd reconfigured the acceleration of S8 to match the S7? Certainly seemed the same on both over the last few months, during several journeys on the northern side of the circle. It does go to show how slow the A Stock were!
