Not sure if this post is better suited in the quiz section but here's a picture of a tunnel. As to it's precise location I'm not sure but I have my suspicions but doesn't quite tally with the text. I'd be interested to hear your views before giving my thoughts (knowing you lot you'll probably put me straight). The caption reads:

Which one?
Judging from the angle and the lighting in the distance I think the tunnel to the left is the Maiden Lane Curve.

While a horse-drawn delivery vehicle rushes fresh stock to the January sales, a grave-robber (centre right with body in a wheelbarrow) steps smartly to one side. His manoeuvre is intended to avoid both the oncoming Band of the Coldstream Guards - who practice formation marching between trains - and the Big Issue salesman who has strategically positioned himself at the junction of the tunnels.

You can also see the graffiti 'tagger' peering out in the left-hand tunnel, waiting for his moment.

Basically the picture shows the line from the present Kings X Met. looking towards Farringdon (Right hand tunnel) The single line tunnel on the left led to the East side of Kings X Main Line ('York Road') and formed a connection from the Main Line station towards Paddington. This did not last long and all traffic from the St.Pancras Line and Kings X, Main Line then ran Eastwards to Farringdon and beyond.

While a horse-drawn delivery vehicle rushes fresh stock to the January sales, Or perhaps an early version of the new S-stock?

But not for long !
Stanmore K's first plan appears to show the 'Gridiron' west of Farringdon.
The second seems like the Down (westbound) junction with the Hotel Curve leading to KX Suburban station, on the west side of the ML station (On right of plan ) and, to the left, the junction between the Kentish Town Line and - - - - wait for it !!- - - - the proposed connection to Euston which later became the Met. WB platform.
Notice on the third plan the two connections to the Great Northern seem to be 'existing' (double lined) and the Kentish Town line is only shown with a 'centre line' sugggesting that it was before 1868. See how the line from York Road ('Caledonia Sreeet') appears to go behind the Met OR platform before joining the Outer Rail. There is no sign of the additional Widened Lines towards Farringdon.
