I spent some time photographing for the quiz along the Wimbledon branch today. North (east?) of Putney Bridge the train describers were showing every train as either "Earl's Court" or "Edgware Road". I did catch an S stock going to Edgware Road described as such, but I also caught a D stock headed to Tower Hill that the DMIs advertised as an Edgware Road service. None of the trains I saw described as Earl's Court were showing that as their destination (a good job, as tipping out on the platforms there would have been fun today).
Nothing seemed amiss on the westbound (but I was only travelling in the other direction), and I don't recall the descriptions at Wimbledon, Wimbledon Park or Southfields being wrong.

DMI was also incorrect at Southfields but not Wimbledon.

The DMIs on the Branch are notoriously inaccurate. I believe that this is to do with the way in which the data is transferred between NR and LU, which isn't very well, and so the descriptions are often wrong, indeed to the level of PAs on stations telling people that the boards are incorrect, and that they should check the front of the train for it's correct destination. At Wimbledon, the destination is usually inputted by one of the people in the little staff assistance office next to "snax". Heading towards Wimbledon, I'd be surprised if there was a way to get that wrong, as it is the only possible destination, other than parsons green, but that would be out of the way before it got to the boundary!

The TD system can only show 2 TD's West of East Putney City and Edgeware Road. When the train gets to WG2 the programme machine kicks in and changes it to what the roll which is now electronic to hopefully the correct TD. This dont always happens when the trains are run out of turn and thus will show incorrect info all the way down to Earls Court.

I often taken the opportunity to glance at the displays whilst on a train, and it really does feel like 9 times out of 10 they are incorrect! The mentality they always try to push down the branch is 'take the first train and change at Earl's Court if necessary'...!

I noticed today that the old DMI on the westbound platform at Wimbledon park has been replaced by a newer one, with 3 trains shown now. Is this still fed off of the unreliable system, or is it using the more accurate system as found online? Most importantly, are these rolling out across the branch, or just on a like for like, when its broke replace it system?

I'm sure someone else can answer with more detail, but I think I spotted a newly erected one at East Putney Westbound too, so hopefully it's something new rolling out...!

I'm planning a spin down the Wimbledon branch tomorrow, I'll try and remember to take a look where new indicators are, and grab photos too.

Having had another look, it seems that they are currently fitted and working at Wimbledon park and Southfields westbound platforms, and they have also been installed at East Putney and (at last!) West Brompton Westbound as well, but last 2 are yet to start displaying. None observed on any EB platforms yet, or at Fulham Broadway or Parsons Green WB. Putney bridge probably won't get any as they have relatively new boards already.

New indicators on WB platforms west of Putney Bridge are a complete waste of money IMHO. Seriously, what is the chance you are going to get a train terminating at East Putney or Wimbledon Park nowadays? There was no need to install them!

But then again, these new ones are much easier to read, able to list trains that are at least 20 minutes away rather than 2 (from observation - they can probably go higher) and are able to display more information such as service disruption. It's not just about showing where the train is going to, but when it is arriving

As has been said above, it's not all about the destination but the ETA of when the train is due. I find that very important personally...

Fair enough, but the vast majority of time on that section of line a train will come within 5 minutes, so an ETA isn't necessary for me .
