What happened at Edgeware Road, I was left stranded on platforms 1/2 with trains running from platform 3 (I'm a MIP) and the staff were unwilling to help me get up and over. I think I was wheeling about on the platforms for about 30 mins.

Signal failure at Edgware Road is what was put out on the TfL website, which in turn caused chaos on the Bakerloo line as people diverted to that for alternative routes, but don't know any more than that I'm afraid.

for MIP - staff should provided a evacuation chair to transfer to other platforms or exit - i would suggested to TFL to install lifts at that station for ease to use

Agreed, it's surprising that Edgware Rd isn't a priority for SFA given its such an important interchange

Thank for the info, thing normally go pair shape when I'm in a hurry but I wasn't on Friday so tag made a nice change.

Agreed, it's surprising that Edgware Rd isn't a priority for SFA given its such an important interchange agreed - cheaper solution is stairlifts installed for backup to exit station in service disruption (latter can removed when proper lifts installed) |

If they can do it at Hounslow West why no other quiet station (it would not work at Covent Garden for example).

I don't think stair lifts work on spiral stairs, but that isn't an issue at Edgware Road.
The tracks for the stair lift to take up space - probably they reduce the usable width of the stairs by about 1-1.5 ft - which reduces the capacity of the stairs. They take up closer to 3-4ft when in use. This means they are not suitable for stations with narrow stairways used as the normal means of accessing the platforms - almost certainly including Edgware Road.
It does seem odd that it hasn't been prioritised for lifts though - unless it's in the "too difficult" rather than "too expensive" category?

I know there used to be a stair lift at Taunton (since removed after lifts were installed) in a fairly narrow staircase, but there was always significant slack periods between trains and still about half the staircase available when it was in use. I don't think either of those would be the case at Edgware Road.

I don't think stair lifts work on spiral stairs, I don't see why not - domestic ones can cope with corners. However, there may be inadequate width for "fussgangern" to pass. |

Don't forget there are two types, one type has a chair the other type has a platform that a wheelchair can be rolled on/off, I have seen the platform type with a corner but the platform part was on the outside of the corner.
