In this photo, PP, what is the object in the bottom right of the photograph? Is it some kind of signal?

By the way lads Although I know the reason can any of you tell me why the currents goes off when entering SWT territory at Gunnersbury and Putney bridge when a long rail gap would have done the same thing? P.S It is NOT because of the voltage difference. This used to be done by an automatic changeover switch, with two short rail gaps? The train would run over the 1st gap, then when the whole train was between the gaps- the current would switch to the opposite feed. The effect was seeing the whole trains' lights dim down, the re-light when the changeover was made. Now it IS just a long gap, as you say.
