This may have been talked about before, I could have missed it, but I was wondering if the 92s have had their saloon windows replaced with tinted or otherwise darker ones. I ask because my degree finished and I largely stopped commuting, but on the few journeys I've made recently, my view's seemed quite a bit darker - you can hardly see anything out of the window at Redbridge and particularly Gants Hill. Is this just me, or?

I find the platform dim and dark at Redbridge, the lighting has not been updated in many years, also the station and lighting needs a deep clean.

I don't mind Redbridge, but they have long been fairly dim platorms in terms of lighting (Gants Hill's lovely and very bright in the circulating area, it's just the platforms that are quite dark). Redbridge used to be really nicely decorated before it was refurbished, though.
It is true what you say, but I'm sure everywhere looks a little dimmer, could be my imagination, though.

Or it could be the fact that we are now well into autumn, and the weather has been rather cloudy of late?

The difference was more obvious at the time they replaced the 62s whilst both stocks were still running together.

So, yes they have always been tinted.

Perhaps all the studying for your degree has dimmed your eyes!!!!!

The windows definitely have a darker tint compared to a couple of months ago,. I've been on the Central line a few times this week, and noticed it when looking into the trains from the platform. They haven't all been done yet - when a non tinted windowed train pulled in, the difference was immediately noticeable.

Thanks for confirming my increasingly strong suspicions A bit of me was starting to get a little worried it was all just me, but it is pretty noticeable. You can hardly see out at all in the tunnels anymore, you can barely see the cable runs or the wall or anything, even when standing by the door. All you get is reflection. It's a shame actually, I don't know why it's been done, but it really makes the quite nice, bright central line look pretty dismal - if you can see anything at all. Even Bank was looking very dark today.

Does anybody have pictures for me to understand what you actually mean? By that I mean an untinted and a tinted unit so I know what to look out for on ym next visit

The glass itself I don't think is tinted but the protective film is. I don't know if it helps to keep the sunlight/heat out in the summer, to avoid the bright trains turning into greenhouses?
