Although not directly related to tube workings, i have a relevant question. In the bombing raids of WW2 when Londoners use the stations as a safe place to sleep for the night, did the Underground permit it? I once read that people had to buy a ticket to get in, as if they were travelling, but then they did not leave. Or is that a myth?
