Hi people,
Yesterday, on my way to Railway centre near Aylesbury , on the Chiltern Railways train...a A60 stock Met line whizzed past on the opposite track
It looked like it only had 4 coaches...
Was there a special event or something ? Or did I see a ghost train ? (ha ha)
It was definately a A6 0 stock as I looked back behind me and double checked
Cheers : )

Indeed, indeed, am I not right in saying that it then sprays sandite onto the tracks, or does the Met's RAT not do that?

Network Rail's Rail Head Treatment Train (RHTT) is the train that blasts jets of water onto the rail head to remove any contaminants during the leaf fall season. The Metropolitan line Rail Adhesion Train (RAT) just applies sandite to the rail head which is formed of A60 stock 5110 with an extra trailer car 6036 that is the actual vehicle that lays sandite.

3 four-car trains still exist, although none of those are considered 'preserved'. These are 5110 and 5234 at Neasden for RAT duties (with car 6036 as mentioned above) and 5112 which is the Acton Works shunter. DM 5034 is the one at the LTM's Acton depot which is the only officially preserved vehicle.
