Quite simply, none of us were there.
So good call on this one, admin!

I was under the impression that it was maintained by the CHT themselves, and not by LU in actual truth. May I ask if this is a common occurrence on the network? LU have the facilities to store the unit and CHT basically don't so it has to go somewhere. Also because its going onto LU track and then eventually carrying passengers after Epping I take it someone has to sign it off as fit for passenger use in one of the depots again only my opinion.

I would be surprised if LU let anything onto their network that hadn't been approved by their own staff as having been maintained and prepared to LU's standards. In the case of Chiltern's units on the Met there will be something in the track access agreement covering this.

It does not matter who was at fault, it only matters that it is found out what happened so a repeat can be prevented. Its good to keep in mind that there is a near identical train that runs on the underground with no problems.

With the above in mind, especially ChrisW's post, I'm going to lock this thread.
