When traveling on the District Line lately, I've noticed a few workman at the side of the tracks just outside East Ham (East Side) mostly in the morning, but sometimes still around in the evening peak. They've got a lot of wooden boards over the trackside cables and they've also got some kind of tanker truck parked in a nearby road (Sibley Grove) with a pipe that disappears into the ballast near the boards. Does anyone know what they are doing?
I've noticed today that they've flattened the garages where the Overground Diverges from the District Line (Hathaway Crescent?) and have got a bunch of premade rail sections waiting, are these for the District Line (Could only see two rails)?

Dunno about the new rail sections, but to answer the original question, they're digging and installing a new cable run that goes underneath all tracks across to the other side of the railway.

Which is part of the nessesary power upgrade work for S Stock and will replace an existing cable overbridge.
I believe the track sections are for NR work.

The track sections were used this weekend for track replacement work on the North London line.

The East Ham substation is on the C2C side. All the substations seem to be having work done on them, presumably for the rise from 630v to 750v for S stock. It must have been done on the Met H&C and Circle lines

Is this what the 3 black cables are for running along side the NR tracks? They seem to be on the wrong side from Barking to ~Heathway as Upney sub station is on the Underground side at Upney?
Or are these something completely different.
