TFL planned works calendar shows no District service all October between Turnham Green - Richmond. Can anyone go in to detail about what work is to be carried out?
Also is this the new way TFL / LU carries out upgrade work with a prolonged closure (similar to the Met and the Pic)?

I think (caution: fairly uninformed opinion follows ) that prolonged closures are avoided where possible, but sometimes it just isn't practical - either because it would be very difficult to do the work, because of its nature, in short, two day bursts, or because it would take so long if they didn't have a prolonged closure.

Thank's just I was shocked to see such a long closure (around 4 weeks) for such a short section of line.

The entire period 30th September to 2nd November has green blobs on it. Hover your mouse over any of those dates and it gives no information other than a closure on 1st/2nd November www.tfl.gov.uk/forms/12392.aspx

My experience of the new incarnation of TfL's website hasn't been that good with regard to planned closures. Also the new version of the status updates isn't much cop and the live departures is now rubbish. But the last two are another story. I think probably the error is on the TfL website.

Well, this track closures document shows the closures as stated by Dstock7080, so probably there is an error with the calendar.
