as i understand, or observe, the 72 stock seems to be the only remaining stock with the older style dva announcements, the c69 stock had a similar one i think but was changed in 2009, the 67 stock had the same one but ofcourse is now long gone. I have some queries, was this the original dva added after refurbishment of the stock? if so when what year was it first installed? And finally are there any plans to change the dva?

Depends what you mean by the older style. If you mean Emma Clarke doing the announcements, then the 1972, 1992 and D stock still use them.
The 1972 stock had DVA announcements that pre dated Emma Clarke.

The original ones (72, 67, C?) had an awful droning woman who sounded depressed. I did wonder if it was Charlotte Green?

She originally did the DVA announcements on the C stock on the Circle, District and Hammersmith and City lines and the 1972 bakerloo line trains as well. Apparently, she was never on the 1967 stock though - the DVA for the 1967 stock was introduced in the early 2000s with the voice of Emma Clarke.

The current DVA on the Bakerloo line is the recorded voice of Emma Clarke (http://www.emmaclarke.com). She once did all the Circle, District, Hammersmith and City line DVA announcements as well before it was updated to Sarah Parnell (http://www.sarahparnell.com) in 2009, and Emma was the voice of the original Victoria line trains. Emma is still the voice of the Central line, The District line (Older refurbished D stock trains only), and of course the Bakerloo line. She is also the voice of the Waterloo and City line, however, to my knowledge the Waterloo and City line DVA is very rarely used. She is not the original voice of the Bakerloo line when the trains were refurbished. Originally, VERA did all of the original DVA Announcements on the Bakerloo line in the 90s, but they got updated in the early 2000s. VERA also used to do the C stock Circle, District and Hammersmith and City line announcements as well before Emma Clarke's announcements were added in around 2003 and then Sarah Parnell in 2009. All of Emma Clarke's original announcements can be heard on this website: www.haltestellenansage.de/ansagen/u/london/london_en.htmI do not know about plans to update the DVA on the Bakerloo line.

standclearofthedoors has pretty much summed it up. TfL currently don't have any plans to upgrade the on-board Bakerloo line DVA. Just to add to the Emma Clarke part of the discussion, she voiced the Central line from 2003 onwards as prior to then it was Janet Mayo. The original ones (72, 67, C?) had an awful droning woman who sounded depressed. I did wonder if it was Charlotte Green? Definitely not Charlotte Green! I have no idea who VERA is but she was deployed in many London Underground lifts and can still be heard at Lambeth North. VERA is an acronym, as unpacked in this old series of postings from 2000 as 'Very Erratic Repetitive Announcer'!

Am I alone in thinking that Klunk from "Catch The Pigeon" should make all the announcements on the underground? It'd certainly put a smile on a few faces during the miserable journey to work.

It's been a long time since I've heard the original VERA but I do seem to remember it sounding a bit like her - although obviously through quite an early (by today's standards) digital system. "The next station.... is... Edgware Road, change at.... Edgware Road.... for... trains... to... Hammersmith." I can quite imagine the continuation to be "North westerly 4 or 5 increasing 6 to gale 8. Rain or showers, moderate or good!".

I really got to hear a audio sample of VERA. It was a very long time since I last heard of it.

The thing that annoys me with the Bakerloo DVA is when you arrive at Regent's Park: "alight here for ZSL - Lun dun Zooo". The last part being delivered in a patronising tone suggesting that only an idiot would not know who or what ZSL was.
