Last one, I promise Is there any sort of problem at this location, or have I just happened to be in the right place at the right time (or wrong place at the wrong time, depending on your point of view)? I was coming into Hainault platform 2 on a Woodford via Hainault service when there was an emergency brake application (or at least it certainly felt like one, I obviously can't be sure, not having been on the front, but I've never known such a hard stop except when the emergency brakes have brought us to a halt) and we pulled up barely four cars into the platform. Nothing was said over the PA (not that anything needed to be said) and we pulled in the rest of the way almost immediately. This isn't the first time I've had this happen, this must be the third time at least. I was just wondering whether there was a long-standing problem here, I've heard things about Shepherd's Bush eastbound, for example - apparently the curve puts a strain on the couplers causing a loss of round train and - I gather - general movement. Alternatively, is it just people leaning on doors or something?

Sounds like the ATO tripped out and was brought in on CM. Happens daily on the 92s

Definitely sounds like an ATO fault; a bit like on the Vic Line when the T/Op would dump the air when they thought they were going to overshoot the platform.

Thank you both Is there anything peculiar to Hainault that means it happens there more often, or is it just coincidence that I happen to have noticed it at Hainault p.2?

Coincidence. Some times it can trip out halfway down the platform or even between stations. Just a quirk of the 92 stock.
