I dont think so. Mind you, the externally hung doors give a better flatter advertising space than the 1973 stock for example.

It may well be because the central line has the largest geographical coverage, so the advertisers pay to get their message to as many people as possible.

Very good point, I was wondering that as well because (I think/I've heard this somewhere) the central line is the longest line on the whole tube network. Thanks

It really is the longest line on the whole network, then. Yes, it is. Don't get on at Epping and nod off. It's a long way back trust me. I've done the same thing from Loughton as well. Each time I was only supposed to be going to Woodford...... Thank you Stella Artois, reassuringly expensive knock-out juice!

West Ruislip to Epping is the longest journey without changing It really is the longest line on the whole network, then. You have read something into jtuthill's reply that he didn't actually say - the fact that West Ruislip to Epping is the longest sensible journey without changing doesn't mean the Central is the longest line (in terms of route miles) - you have to add in all the branches to find the answer (figures are on Clive's Guide if you want to - or someone may have official figures).

[/quo I've taken the distances below from: "Motive power recognition:4 LONDON TRANSPORT RAILWAYS by John Glover & Colin Marsden Ian Allan 1985 Met main line(From Baker St) 41 miles District(Not Wimbleware) 37 " H&C +Wimbleware 31 " Bakerloo 14 " Central 52 " Jubilee 14 " (Does not include extension from CX to Stratford) Northern 36 " Piccadilly 40 " (Does not include spur to Terminal 5) Victoria 14 " Hope someone can update these?
