As the time of their final departure approaches, I wanted to ask a question about the Cs that I've been wondering about. Obviously they regularly serve the Wimbledon - Edgware Road branch and do go to Olympia occasionally too and this is displayed on the in-car maps. Occasionally, as has been reported here, they've been known to venture down to Richmond and I've seen a video of one heading into the sidings that serve as shunting necks for Acton Works depot so I assume they can go to Ealing. Obviously they also went all the way up to Barking and its sidings and served the whole Circle line and I was just wondering if there was anywhere on the District C stock haven't served. Judging by the C stock explorer, they're cleared to travel on the whole line, but I was wondering if there are any stations they haven't been to in regular passenger service (albeit presumably as a result of a diversion of some sort). Also, assuming they are allowed to go to all of the stations, are they allowed in all the depots and sidings?

I did post this some time ago but here is a rather grainy shot of a C stock at Neasden showing Rayners Lane as a destination picture here.. This was 1971, whether they retained these Met line destinations in later years I don't know.

C Stock currently have blinds for West Ham and Upminster. Before they were refurbished they visited Upminster depot for overhaul on an occasional basis. These trains usually ran empty to/from Upminster. Units dealt with could always be recognised by the painted light grey roof, replacing black. As has been mentioned in another post, they did have problems with the platforms between Becontree & Upminster and were indeed banned east of Upney for sometime.
C Stock have ventured to all other parts of the District on a semi-regular basis.

Until refurbishment C77s had silver roofs - including the replacement for 5585, which made 5585/6585 instantly recognisable as 6585 was the original C69 car. Or are you suggesting the shade of grey/black used on C69 car roofs changed?

Or are you suggesting the shade of grey/black used on C69 car roofs changed? The first 3 units of C77 Stock were delivered with white roofs. Looking back at the information available, the first Upminster overhauled C Stock in 1988 had their roofs repainted from black to white: 5588 5591 5592 5590 5593 5594. A change was then made to 'Merlin grey' towards the end of 1988 on 5595. All subsequent Upminster overhauls were done in Merlin grey. 5603 ©bowroaduk 5578 ©bowroaduk

Did the C stocks ever do a regular service to Ealing Broadway/Richmond to Upminster?

There was a timetable, I think in the early 90's, when a Hammersmith and City train was booked to run through to Upminster at the end of the evening peak. I think this was to visit the wheel lathe at Upminster depot, or something like that. However, there was an issue with the train platform interfaces beyond Barking, so it terminated there and ran empty. I don't know if any actually did run to Upminster in passenger service.

I remember taking photos of C Stock running between Upminster and Barking in the late 70's on District Line crew training runs. This was prior to their use on the Edgware Rd - Wimbledon service when the C 77's were new.

Im sure it was Dagenham East where one hit the E/B platform edge
