If memory serves me correctly, this is the return leg of the Highlands & Islands explorer 2014, operated by Steam Dreams/The Cathedrals Express. Left Kings Cross station 9th May and returns to London some point tonight!
The usual warning about charter train timings, they are very much provisional until such time as the train does or does not turn up, particularly on trips like this that have to navigate a lot of junctions!

Any ideas as to why the train might be going to Victoria rather than the logical way into Kings Cross?

Quickly from the Ian Visits website, a LNER Class A4 4488 Union of South Africa train will be touring London "A .....4488 Union of South Africa train" ? there's more than one? I think you mean a train hauled by an LNER Class A4 locomotive, namely No 4488 "Union of South Africa" Why is it coming into Victoria? Possibly commercial reasons - where are the passengers staying tonight? Possibly operational reasons - is there a spare platform at KX? I see the empty stock is going to Southall, which is easier to do from Victoria than it is from Kings Cross. Sawb - According to the linked website, the excursion also started from Victoria, not KX.

Considering the 4488 info came from a general information site and not a rail oriented one it seems a bit mean to criticise a minor error of syntax. Some non-enthusiast was obviously trying to get it right so let's be thankful. The confusion between Kensal Rise and Kensal Green likewise - easily extrapolated, so no problem. 4488 unassisted left Olympia 3 mins early and sounded wonderful.

Kensal Green Junction (as opposed to Kensal Green Station) is on the Hampstead Junction line, where the spur to Willesden Junction Low Level and the City Goods (?) line branch off.
