One of the things I've always wondered is why do the two terminating platforms at High Street Kensington seem to have an "overrun". Was there ever any historically planned extension? I've had a look back in the threads, but haven't found anything.

It was probably the release for steam locos when the line was first opened, and later for goods trains shunting into the coal depot.

I think there was a sector plate type arrangement there to release steam locos etc: I'm sure Iv'e actually seen it years ago but memories can deceive.

I also used to think that there was a planned extension in the future but was then told by Dstock7080 that there isn't.
