There's loads of photos on flick of a c stock run from Barking-Richmond
what was the circumstances behind that?

A failed D stock and as S stocks can not go to Richmond in traffic hours a C stock was used from the spare at PG I believe

In one of Julian G's photos, it looks like a manager was driving it! I don't think any drivers wear white shirts

There was a C stock to Mansion House yesterday, diverted there due to a signal failure at Earls Court

In one of Julian G's photos, it looks like a manager was driving it! I don't think any drivers wear white shirts He is indeed a manager and was one of the operating officials on the C Stock Explorer tour.

This was a "training" run, combining a requirement for a rusty rail move to be operated and for the manager to have a driving refresher day for licence retention purposes. The train was under the charge of an Instructor and worked additional passenger to Barking / Richmond (and empty to Upminster).
