I have come across an article dated August 1961 from The Railway Magazine concerned with the curve beneath Smithfield Market that allowed traffic from the South to access Moorgate directly. If anyone would like to have a .pdf of the article, please PM me and I'll send you a link.

Surely this is the eastern curve from Blackfriars that avoids Farringdon and joins with the line to Barbican and Moorgate (now closed?)
There was an electrified line (one of a pair from Euston Square - once intended to reach Paddington) that enable Met trains to use the City Widened Lines and one of the Widened Lines platforms at Moorgate.

I think you mean the electrified up widened line from Chalton street to Moorgate (return via X over at Farringdon.

No need to use cross-over at Farringdon. The train terminating at Moorgate "Midland Road" could proceed forward onto the down Circle.

Foregoing is rubbish - Up electrified Widened Line would terminate in plat. 3 or 4 and then could proceed forward to the down Circle.
My fault for trying to read track diagram upside down. Idiot!!
