As the DLR platforms are directly beneath the Northern line platforms- why does the lift not stop at the Northern line platform level- surely the lift shaft has to cut through the Northern line platforms?
Surely a lift that gives access to 2 separate lines and trains in 4 directions- wouldn't that be killing several birds with one stone ,so to speak?

I'm guessing you mean at Bank, the DLR platforms aren't directly below the Northern line platforms they are to the west of the Northern line platforms, as somebody who needs lifts to use the tube it would be helpful if the lift did stop at the Northern line.

Looking at the plans all the lines are to have step-free access except the Central Line
