Having been in testing for a while, www.tfl.gov.uk/ has now been updated to the new site. I must say I quite like it, and it is quite neat on mobile, just as good if not better than some of the mobile apps. I do think that they could improve it a bit more though with something like a "my TfL account" - combining the online oyster system as well as things such as "favourite stations" and other things - a centralised account would be better in my opinion, it would make everything a lot easier, a bit like google where your account does all manner of things.

Its a shame they've only got an interactive map for finding locations and not e.g. London bus maps

The Employee Jobs website seems to have been disabled. Anyone know the new link?

Some of diamondgeezer's points aren't really that pressing. Why would you need to look at a board report from 2004? I think the "hidden" bits have improved massively. I found all of the current WTTs within 2 minutes of browsing, freely accessible. No need to trawl whatdotheyknow.com anymore. Indeed the whole transparency section is quite good.

A lot of the corporate information like press releases don't appear in the top layer and take some finding and links within the site aren't working.

It looks dreadful, tbh. It's definitely gone the way of the current fashion in webdesign, and it's not a good thing. Huge graphics, sliding panels, extreme amounts of vertical scrolling, illogical layout in little bubble spurts (puffs I think they call them). It's terrible.

What the stuff! It just came up with an advert for Google Play on the home page. Adblock to the rescue.

Its a shame they've only got an interactive map for finding locations and not e.g. London bus maps Bus Maps and Bus Spider Maps will be coming back. TfL have confirmed this on their Digital Blog. There is also some whizzy new bus mapping technology going along as well but so far it's not been available in Beta or on the live site. If people feel strongly about aspects of the design or missing information then it is worth posting some polite and reasoned feedback on the Blog. TfL are reading it and seem to be reasonably responsive.

On the old site, the system seemed to know whether a train running between Uxbridge and Rayners Lane was Met or Picc. Now it doesn't. It shows two lines for each train, assigning each to the two lines (this is when you select a station and look at the arrivals). I don't understand why, given that my smartphone apps can show the correct info.
In addition, the huge amounts of wasted white space on the journey planner pages suggest someone doesn't know how to design or program web pages at all.
These comments relate to the desktop version.

Wait, does that mean the new website is going to be mainly for smartphones and tablets and so I'm going to have to throw my computer out of the window just like nearly every time with Windows 8?

Found the new website very easy to use so far but I haven't yet tried to login to oyster online or apply for any jobs, so will reserve passing full judgement until I've used those two pages!

I have just discovered the Working Timetables on the new TFL site. My!! I am never going to get bored again. Thanks for this hint. I found them as well. The first page of each says "Private for staff use only" so it feels a bit naughty to peek inside but I want to, I'm going to and it's too late to stop me.

Am I the only person unable to access oyster online at present? Have tried several times yesterday and today. Posting here as someone may be able to advise as to whether or not it's anything to do with the website migration.

I can get to Oyster both via the homepage ("top up Oyster" link in the lower right) or directly entering the oyster.tfl.gov.uk url. I haven't tried to do anything once there though.

I find it really difficult to find things on pages with enormous background pictures. I don't know what it is exactly, but it just seems to overpower the text.

I thought I'd provide some helpful feedback to TFL about the useless nature of the departure boards on the Uxbridge branch. The feedback form does not ask for contact details, nor, on closing it, does it say anything helpful like "Thank you". It just closes. I have no idea if my carefully crafted words have gone into the void.
And has anyone looked at the page for West Harrow? Apparently the line runs north - south there. Apparently northbound means toward Uxbridge. I am seriously unimpressed. They could say "Towards London " and "Toward Uxbridge" and then one would not have to play guessing games.
Oh, and on the home page of the desktop version there is a link to "live departures". Which brings up what looks like the page for the mobile version, and for buses only. Nothing at all about trains - you have to dig into the menus and select a station from a list.

Funny you mention that, I've had to do that on the H&C at Ladborke Grove or another along that stretch of line; Westbound=Hammersmith and Eastbound=Paddington but looking at a tube map you'd think the line runs north-south.
