There's some interesting information on the old LSWR line in the Middleton Press book on the West London Line, including some early maps.
Remember too the original H&C was built to dual gauge, the GWR Broad Gauge of 7' and a bit and standard gauge, hence the wider tunnels and wide spacing of the tracks on the open-air sections.
The disused underpass at Turnham Green used to be used by LMS coal trains from Brent to West Kensington and High Street Kensington coal depots. You'll find a couple of threads about those depots elsewhere on here.

Not really. It was only then that the original name for part of the line was resurrected and applied to the section that now bears its name (excluding, obviously, the circle line element that was added later and lead to a slight name change). Finding out stuff like this is what make this sort of thread so good and why such threads should never be discouraged. Yes, and for many years the H&C has shared its timetable with the Circle line, even when it was part of the Met. In the early days there may have been some sharing but I think in the more recent past with completion of the conversion of metadyne to PCM equipment a on the O stock and the lengthening of circle line trains to 6 cars in the early 60s allowed a dual fleet based at Hammersmith to be formed and it's never looked back.
