During my A/L recently, I took a trip down to Wimbledon, on a D stock.
After a ride on the Tramlink, back to Wimbledon, and jumped on next to the cab. Wonderful announcement thus:
"Good Afternoon Ladies and Gentlemen. This is a District Line service taking the scenic route to Upminster"
The driver repeated this announcement at Earls Court, Mansion House, Tower Hill and Barking.
Whoever he was, certainly made me and a few others chuckle... ;D
the 'Scenic route' part wore off after leaving Barking. Is it really scenic up that way???

the 'Scenic route' part wore off after leaving Barking. Probably wise. You can't use the same joke too many times. It's almost as bad as laughing at your own jokes.

I was travelling on the northern some time ago, and the driver decided it would be a good idea to announce each individual station from Morden to Edgware - he did this at every station until Oval, and was promptly told by some irate passenger in no uncertain terms to 'button his lips'. I couldnt possible repeat exactly what was said here - i'd wear out my asterisk [/li][li] key!!!

One of my faves is to announce "This is your Barking train...woof woof!" but I don't use that very often! I also enjoy making announcements in my broad Geordie accent (as opposed to the slightly less broad Geordie accent I usually use) and looking at the puzzled faces!

Hmm, I would say it is used a few times a day, more so if things get blocked up at Morden.

I used to say I was on the Jubilee Line when making PA's at Ealing Broadway without realising (until I got a sharp dig in the ribs from my I/O!)
