Hello all. Do any of you fine people knowif there are any station upgrade plan's for Hanwell station in prep' for crossrail? I understand that there has been talke of reopening to entrance on Station approach(south side of the line) but has not come to anything as yet. It is a lovley station but hardly what you would call, DDA Comlyant. John R

I used to live near Hanwell station until about 40 years ago. It was a VERY interesting place, and in the 1950s we used to have to go and collect bundles of newspapers from the evening trains from Paddington and get them to our shops before we could start our deliveries
There is a very strong local history group, and I think it is based on "Hanwell.org"
Because the station is a listed structure, there is not much they can do to change it, but I also heard about the possibility of re-opening the front entrance which was once the main entrance. I think there might be some structural instability which could have been used for closing it. There were very strong local history groups around when I was there but that is a long time ago now. A search on the internet or local libraries is certain to reveal something

If I remember correctly, they are not going to extend the platforms, instead they are to use SDO and also keep service levels as they currently are. This is partly due to the viaduct to the west.
