Wondering what is the layout of the platforms in Old Street Station? Are the Northern Line platforms above the Northern City Line platforms or are they both next to eachother?

The brilliant Carto Metro Map says that between Moorgate and Old Street, the Northern line and the Northern City lines are superimposed, however does not say which is on top of which.

The Northern Line is below the Northern City Line. This reflects the chronology of the lines construction (shallowest first) and the need for the Northern Line to have sufficient depth to be beneath obstructions in the city such as bank vaults and then tunnel beneath the river.

Don't you mean deepest first, since the Northern was constructed before the Northern City?

GN&CR was authorised first, in 1892, a year before the C&SLR extension to Angel, but took twelve years to build against the CSLR extension's eight.
