Morning all. Does anyone have any further info on what appears to be major construction/earthworks taking place on the line just outside of Chesham? The contractors set up camp months ago in some fields with their many huts, diggers & cars. Curious as to what's going on & how long it will be until they've finished as I can't find any info on TFL's website. Ta.

It's to make sure the earth works the track is laid on is fit for another 100 years, embankments are starting to slip on the line, and need major sums of money to stop them slipping.

It's one of the prettiest bits on the whole of the LU IMHO. As you roll along with a forest rising up a slope on one side, and an almost sheer drop into fields and valleys on the other, you can't help but wonder how that bit of line stays on the side of the hill!

As an ex Met Line employee I often wondered how the Chesham Branch stayed operating. Perhaps it was the large number of senior LUL managers who were said to live in the Chesham area.

You are right I don't know how many still do but there is at least one MBE that still does, there was also a number from that building next to the Thames at one time.

Thanks. TRT - it is very pretty, although this work, which I'm sure is essential, has somewhat spoilt the view for the past year. Am really looking forward to it all being finished and all the mud greening over again.
btw discovered yesterday the firm carrying out the work is called Joywheel.

And as far as I'm aware, it is in fact the only part of the tube network where one can see a llama. ;-)

Ah yes! Llamas and chickens. I think that's Raans Farm near Chalfont. Caught me offguard first time I saw them.
