Hi All,
As I don't live in london I don't get to ride the tube as much as I would.
It has always lingered in my mind, we will make a scenario.
I am at Southwark tube station, I want to go to stanmore but I only buy a ticket to Baker Street, whatwiould happen when I putmy ticket through the barrier.
I'm unsure if this has been asked before.
Thanks,
Aidan

Nothing, other than you'd get nicked for fare evasion. Make sure you smile for the cameras, and have fun!
p.s. *hops on for the ride to the moderators' forum*

sheepyaidan This is from the TfL fares/tickets pages: My personal take on fare evasion is that anyone foolish/stupid enough to take the chance needs to ensure that they've got sufficient funds in their bank account to cover the penalty fare and/or be happy to receive a criminal record. They shouldn't choose to blame others or their naivety after the event as it was their own decision to try and intentionally cheat the system. I hope that visitors/members are astute and wouldn't be tempted

Hi there,
Thanks for the replies.
So it will just let you through the gates? No alert to staff?
Thanks,
Aidan

Nope. Gate will remain shut. So you would have to reverse down the line?

Yes, and hope you don't meet an RPI en route.

Hi there, Thanks for the replies. So it will just let you through the gates? No alert to staff? Thanks, Aidan I know I'm being obtuse but if you want to go to Stanmore why don't you, err...just pay to go to Stanmore. Or get a one-day paper travelpass?

Yes, and hope you don't meet an RPI en route. You probably would, knowing the circumstances!

Yes, and hope you don't meet an RPI en route. You probably would, knowing the circumstances! Depends on how your luck is, I know I always have bad luck most of the time, especially when doing something "sneaky" . I have a friend who has said to me several times not to touch in on the DLR , but I've always told him that I have a high chance of getting caught and have had tickets checked several times (the first being when I nearly forgot to touch in at Canary Wharf)! And as I have a 16-25 railcard attached to my oyster I get 1/3 off during off-peak, £1 anywhere Z2-6 is a bargain when a bus journey costs £1.40 .
