I've moved them to this board as it's a more suitable location for the discussion contained within.The Central line might be receiving a further refreshment, which will see the grab bars/poles repainted and the flooring renewed. I've also found out recently that the trains will definitely be receiving in-car DMIs and wheelchair bays before 2020 in order to comply with regulations. This is likely to occur in 2017.

if all stock must comply with regulations by 2020, what about the 1972 stock? they will be far older then then 92 stock, will these be updated again?

Seen a few 92ts with new body end panels which are different from the other new end panels in that they are flushed, or no gaps if you like.

I came across a 92ts carriage with new flooring with different colours near the doors. I think it must have been a trial?

Shame that not all the work was done in one hit on the 92s but a combination of budget and the 2012 Games clobbered that idea.

I heard the flooring could yet be 3 or 4 years away yet. The body end project is stopping in a couple of months, as the gearbox project is taking priority then the heavy overhaul kicks off March next year. The floors are being patch repaired at the moment

Used to get the same problem of under floor corrosion on the Derby trailers of 62TS.

I hope so, Last time I went on the Central line I saw that one of the grab handles had lost a lot of paint. It would be nice also to have armrests on the seats.

I'm sure I've read on this forum somewhere that the armrests were removed as they were not strong enough to stand up to some of the locals.

They were removed due to them being broken off in service, by people kicking them off, the only 92's with armrests is the Waterloo and City line. the armrests on all LULL trains are designed to break off if involved in collision, but the 92ts were found to be easy to break off, and due to the scale of breakages it was decided to remove them, rather than refit them, the Bakerloo line suffered in a similar manner and have had dividing pads put in.

Indeed. This is why they were kept on the W&C because the clientele is slightly 'different'. They did trial a more robust style of armrest in 1996, a rather ugly red affair, but it was cheaper to remove them all and not bother. With the old armrests "they" (LU) were fighting a loosing battle.

The overhaul of the autocouplers is costed in total at about the average value of a house in London (£200k-500k), and is expected to last 2 years extendable to four.
Surely that kind of sum of money can be doubled simply by the legal costs involved in putting it out to tender? Do it in house....
