I remember all the A Stock trains, had the Metropolitan Line crest on the side by the drivers cab, are there any plans to put the Metropolitan Line crest onto the S8 stock? as the S8 is not used on the routs that use S7s

This was discussed muchly when the S Stock was being designed and when first delivered to London. In short, no; there is a desire to have uniformity across the stock. This is one of the reasons that the grab poles are not in a line specific colour.

Talking of uniformity across lines etc. When I worked on the Met there was talk on the combine of having line specific ties. There existed an unofficial Met line Tie and I believe an unofficial District Line tie. So staff would have been happy to wear a n appropriate line coloured tie for those lines and possible a couple of others . However no one would have been very keen to wear a Hammersmith & City tie for obvious reasons. (Pink)

Would the H+C tie not have to have yellow on it as well, as a Hammersmith & Circle tie?
(Do drivers work all one line or all the other on one duty, i.e. do they switch between lines after a meal break on their duties etc?)

each Met train has 8 cars instead of the 7 found elsewhere on the SSR, and each car's seating layout is different to that found on S7's. They might wish for uniformity, but lets face it, its a seperate fleet. One extra carriage, different seats, lack of route maps for the yellow, pink and green lines. Rules for rule's sake, I'm affraid! Maybe when they're ubiquitous on the SSR an odd crest might start to appear. Lets not forget that the pendulum has swung both ways between uniformity and individualism before!

I do hope so. the Met line was always a bit special, with the old A Stock having proper high back seating, luggage racks and a high capacity commuter layout, designed for the route it was on, the Crest just reinforced that.

the Met was always special to me as well. I always answered if anybody asked where I worked "On the Met" and I was proud to be a part of the lines team. However to enable me to gain promotion I had to leave and go and work on the Northern Line. With the passage of time I have often thought was it a wise move.

The Central has a shield. Course, whether Ruislip and Hainault would be happy with the 92ts wearing it... :X

I was on an S8 today and thought the same thing. The Met has always been different - and with the renewed historical interest in the network, I wonder if TFL and the Neasden team could be convinced to add them again. It was something a bit special.
