Talk about noisy Fridays!!! Pulls out of Epping earlier today, aware there is someone sitting right behind the cab bulkhead. Merrily banging away with his portable TAPE player, with portable speakers. Anyone wants a mobile disco? The cars of 92TS have all the acoustics required for complete satisfaction. Deliberately got out at Woodford to have a yak to the SA waiting at t' end of platform, and grab a look at the noisemaker. Looked like he'd come straight from the 80's. And listening to it. Anyone like Howard Jones - New Song? or to finish it off, when he got off at Stratford, Tarzan Boy, by Baltimora. If you ask how I know who it was, he told us, and everyone else in the car. Perhaps he is, or was a DJ. Maybe I should've given him the PA handset. ;D A whole new meaning for in-car entertainment...

Maybe he's the person responsible for the 60's hits that regularly blare over the tannoy at Queens Park station! I like it when people like that get on my train - they make the day go quicker! ;D

Overloud music on headphones is bad enough - portable speakers is really taking the pi$$! Why not tell him to shut the f*ck up? Or am I just being grumpy? As a passenger, having to listen to someone else's music is one of my pet hates - it just seems selfish to me to inflict your music on everyone else.

I'm afraid i'm a culprit of the overloud headphones, but portable speakers are just anti-social. If it was over 85 decibals you could've got him arrested!
Hold on - a TAPE player? I havn't seen on of those in years.

He wasn't wearing a shell suit perchance ;D ;D ;D I saw a very strange sight in Edinburgh last year of a chap walking (actually more Iike mincing) along the street. He had a Mohegan haircut, was in is mid 50's wearing a very grubby WHITE shell suit carrying a small tape player/stereo on his shoulder playing 80's music very loudly albeit very tinny (either with the tweeter set high or it was a rubbish stereo).... had to do a double take as he seemed so out of place..!!!! I want to point out that I am a firm believer in rights for everyone regardless of their sexuality; it was just such a surreal sight in what is a conservative city...

Why? I'm 16 but I think 80's music is the best! ;D At least you can understand it There's nothing wrong with (most of) it, and I agree, it is a lot better than some of the 'sausage machine' music around today. I've still got loads of my records from the early eighties, not that I can play them now. How about 'I Ran' by 'A Flock of Seagulls'

I'm afraid i'm a culprit of the overloud headphones, but portable speakers are just anti-social. Overloud headphones are, in my opinion, far worse than portable speakers. At least with the speakers I would not have to sit there and try and work out what it was you were listening too. As for music on trains in general, it does help the journey. I have had it a few times on my NR trains. The only time it annoys me is when the providers of said musical entertainment are anti-social and sit there smoking strange substances and talking very loudly in a language they think is fashionable ("nahat I mean, innit.")

Although the 80's were good for music, there is some very good music and band out at the moment; Coldplay, White Stripes, The Features, The Libertines, Babyshambles, Bloc Party, Killers, The Coral and Kings of Leon to name but a few. The 60's had one or two good 'uns.

He wasn't wearing a shell suit perchance ;D ;D ;D I think he was, yes. I don't mind 80's music myself, but when the noisemaker plays the same two tunes from Epping to Stratford [and beyond probably - he got off] it gets a little irritating...
