Reading the thread about the 73ts at Ealing got me wondering. Are there any SSR stations that have not been visited by a tube stock train? Ealing Broadway - HSK and Earl's Court to Olympia have been visited by 1973s according to the linked thread. Finchley Road to Wembley Park and Rayners Lane to Uxbridge are obviously visited by 73s regularly, and I've been on a 1938 that ran Finchley Road to Rayners Lane via West Harrow, and on one that ran on the old ELL then along the south side of the circle to Ealing Broadway. What about the Richmond and Wimbledon branches, east of St Mary's Curve and HSK to Tower Hill via King's Cross? |

Upminster has certainly seen '38 and '83 Stock.
During engineering works '38 Stock have worked into Baker Street MET platforms.

Some 1996 Tube Stock also went to Upminster for storage when new.

Just a thought, but what route did the 38s take en-route to the Isle of Wight?

Wikipedia, citing Hardy, says that the first went via Eastleigh, the rest via the Portsmouth Direct Line (i.e Haslemere), to Fratton, and completed the journey by low loader using the Portsmouth-Fishbourne ferry, being rerailed at Sandown |

I was meaning what route they left London - i.e. did they use the Richmond or Wimbledon branches to get from LT (as it was) metals to Eastleigh?

The book gives all the transfer information, dates and which routes they took.
