Apologies if asked before - are there plans to save any ? -
Thinking of 5585 - the replacement for the West Ham bombing one (IRA days) and I think the first painted unit in blue and grey. ?

None that we know of at the moment, and 5585 is no longer with LU.

I seem to recall reading somewhere that the C08 sets would be among the last to go. What's changed?
There's also been suggestions of a couple of farewell tours - one a proper tour of places they didn't go to and another around their regular haunts. Any truth to this?

I can't recall ever seeing that about the C08s, the delicateness of their survival has meant they've already gone. The Tours are already mentioned in this thread: www.districtdavesforum.co.uk/thread/23336/stock-farewell-railtours

I know where you read, as indeed did I on the "infallible" Wikipedia, it stated they'd be the last to go, but like DStock7080 said, they're gone already.

The statement on the Wikipedia page about C stock (re a rebuilt C08 going to be saved) needed a citation... and remained needing a citation for more than a year... I always took the view that someone had made an uneducated guess and then posted, hoping that it might be right !! The longer a statement needs a citation (i.e. proof) the less accurate it is in reality !!!

And (forgive me for going off topic) that is the main problem with Wikipedia, half the time it is used to voice hopes/opinions. I remember seeing on the 1967 Stock someone posting, "Deez r sik, 67 Stock 4 eva." And equally getting into a battle against someone who insisted that the A Stock started service in 1959, ultimately I won, and I think antje also helped me win the battle.
Back on topic, Bengley took some photos of the C Stock getting done at CF Booth, would I be right in saying that the majority of the rolling stock is going to Eastleigh in this contract?

As far as I am aware it is 50-50, but not necessarily in 50-50 order. Time will tell.

For those who haven't seen the above mentioned photos this is honestly very distressing, almost as bad as the shredded A stock photo a couple of years ago
